Day 2, Watertown New York to Burlington Vermont

We learned a lot about Indians today. While visiting High Falls Gorge Peter saw a huge pile of 6 x 6 logs, that he said were planted by the 6x6 Indians. This land is rife with history.
Forgot to tell you about Peter's lesson yesterday. While we went to the restroom,, Peter laid down on the grass under a tree to rest. Carolyn told him that was where all the dogs went to do there business. Peter is nervous and now has a fear of approaching dogs lest they want to hump his leg.
Back to the Indians. While we were going up to the top of Whiteface mountain we had to walk in a tunnel. Peter regaled us with the information that the Chisel Head Indians had made this tunnel many, many years ago. Then there was the Sore Back Indians riding motorcycles up to the top. Some people might call them Wild Hogs, but today they are the Sore Backs. The road was very bumpy, some bumps as big as your house. You weren't here so they were very big.
We stopped at the Ausable Chasm. The sight of the short necked deep diving Indians. Unfortunately the water is very shallow in the chasm..The tribe was wiped out very quickly. The few survivors came to be known as the Kerplunks.
We made our way to get ferry from Port Kent to Burlington Vermont. We arrived about 2hours early for the last ferry of the day probably because we had stopped for ice cream cones. Brian said the ice cream was made by the Blueberry Indians with the assistance of the Refrigerator Indians. There was Indian signs everywhere today.
We had a very peaceful hour long ferry ride. Sun setting, and the Adirondack Mountains behind us.
Another great day.
We are staying at a hotel built by the local Best Western Indians.
Carolyn wants to know where are the cowboys??? Perhaps we will find them tomorrow.

Day one, Wyevale to Watertown New York

Three H's Eastward bound carrying treasured cargo. Three H's??? Two Harley' s and a Honda. Passengers; Brian and Carolyn Handy, Peter andCheryl Webb.
Left Wyevale about 8:00 am. Arrived Watertown, New York, around 6:3 pm. Everyone safe and sound. Carolyn did a great job for her first long, long distance ride. She had her bike put 110 Km per hour, much to her surprise. She said she thinks it is the fastest she has ever gone.
The most notable thing today was when we saw a huge mother moose and her babies, crossing a farmer's wheat field. She was wasting no time. By the time Brian saw them they were almost at the far side of the field.
We had breakfast in Brechin.
Gassed up on hwy 12 & headed east on argyle rd headed to Lindsay. Cont # 7 , then headed s o Madoc to 401 into Belleville Kingston. Carolyn ran out of gas on 401 & switched to reserve. Filled up at Napanee. Then east on hwy 2 along St. Lawrence river.
It was the perfect bike riding day. It doesn't get any better than this.
We had wine and Ivanhoe cheese that Brian bought along the way along with some crackers before going for dinner at an Irish pub. Back to the room.
Back to the room and we will tuck in for the night. Tomorrow is another day. What will it bring?
